About Lauryn

First youngest Portuguese author  in the Uk

My Story

Hi, I’m Lauryn, an 11-year-old multi-awarded kidpreneur, author, and social activist. I wrote my first book, Lauryn That’s Me: The Journey of a Powerful African Girl, to celebrate diversity and inspire children to embrace their unique stories. Being the youngest author of Afro-Portuguese descent to publish a book in the UK is a milestone I’m incredibly proud of.

Growing up, I noticed a lack of stories that reflected my heritage and experiences. This inspired me to create books that showcase African culture, highlight Black history, and empower children to love themselves. My roots in Cabo Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe are a big part of who I am, and I’m passionate about sharing them with the world.

Beyond writing, I dedicate my time to philanthropy, public speaking, and advocating for positive representation of children in the media. Whether donating books, delivering workshops, or collaborating with organizations, my mission is to inspire change and empower young voices to shine.
